OKCHE is an independent, statewide organization

that supports the principles

of the National Council for History Education,

a national organization promoting excellence

in history education.

OKCHE membership consists of historians, college professors

and history teachers, school administrators, authors, publishers, historical association and historical museum personnel,

history buffs, in short, anyone who loves history.


Fostering equal partners

in building a community of learners through:

Building broad-based membership

Conducting professional development

Fostering quality teacher preparation

Supporting meaningful state curricula

Hosting website with teacher resources

Encouraging National History Clubs in Oklahoma high schools

Encouraging Phi Alpha Theta in Oklahoma universities

Sponsoring award programs

Promoting the values of the National Council for History Education
